Man City 3-0 Man United: Post-match Man United player ratings

Manchester United were beaten convincingly in the first instalment of the Manchester derby for the 25/26 Premier League season. Rivals Manchester City returned to winning ways, for the first time since their opening day victory at Wolves, with a dominant display in the 3-0 drubbing of their noisy neighbours.

A first half Phil Foden header, accompanied by two vintage Erling Haaland finishes put **Ruben Amorim'**s side to the sword, leaving a dejected United boss to address those questioning his tactics.

The Reds now have just one win in five competitive fixtures this season, with the visit of **Chelsea**approaching next Saturday.

Here are VAVEL UK's official Manchester United player ratings.

Altay Bayindir - 4

**Bayindir**proved today why he is not up to the task of being United's number one. The Turkish international did not excel in any area and was terrorised by Haaland.

The goalkeeper made three saves, and only completed 22 out of his 48 attempted passes. United's shot stopper must be competent with the ball at his feet, and Bayindir was not that.

Noussair Mazraoui - 4

The Moroccan returned to the starting XI for the first team this season, and his lack of match sharpness showed.

Despite a solid first half, the right back slowed down significantly and was run ragged by Jeremy Doku. A tough return to action for Mazraoui.

Leny Yoro - 4

Yoro was not up to the standards he has set himself with some exceptional performances this season. The young french defender did well to break lines with his passes and this was a highlight of the game, however some of his passes were lazy and lacked power.

On the contrary, his defensive work was poor and he was exploited far too easily.

Mathijs De Ligt - 5

De Ligt was a standout of a poor defensive unit, although he was not at his best. The Dutchman showed strength in his defensive duels and at times made life hard for the City attack.

Similar to Yoro, the centre back's passing was a positive aspect of his game today as he looked to push his side on from the back.

Luke Shaw - 3

Shaw struggled today, and was the worst of United's defenders. The England international struggled to offer anything positive, and when in 1-1 suggestions, often came out on the losing side.

Patrick Dorgu - 4

Dorgu was a positive out on the left today, always offering himself as an outlet and constantly patrolling his flank, in both attacking and defensive scenarios.

The Danes delivery in the final third let down his performance, as united struggled to find a breakthrough.

Bruno Fernandes - 4

United's skipper showed no indication of his best self today and ultimately was a burden to the team at times, especially with his passing. Another case of the final ball letting down United's attack.

Fernandes' defensive work was good and he did work tirelessly, but he was not able to create the chances he typically can to drag The Reds through games.

Manuel Ugarte - 5

The Uruguayan offered a steady performance, breaking up opposition moves and also retaining the ball well. Ugarte accompanied Bruno well and at times did well to drive the away side forward.

Bryan Mbuemo - 6

By far United's best player today, and the only man who looked capable of penetrating City's defence. from his darting runs, to his volley which looked destined to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma, , Mbuemo was the bright spark of a dull team.

Amad Diallo - 4

Amad did not offer a fraction of the creativity United fans know he's capable of, and his performance was the complete opposite of that in this fixture last season.

His attacking was flat and his defensive work was sub par, leaving the Ivorian missing from most the action throughout the game.

Benjamin Sesko - 4

Sesko's first start in a united shirt put him into a tough game and he struggled to embrace the opportunity. The forward at times used his size to pin a defender and receive the ball, but ultimately, was not any trouble throughout the match.

Harry Maguire - 2

Maguire entered the frame in the second half and instantly made an impact in all the wrong ways. The former United captain was at fault for the third goal, and his all around game was simply sloppy. Not the impact sub Amorim will have hoped for.

Kobbie Mainoo - 5

Mainoo's impact will have been the reaction Ruben Amorim will be looking for from him as he continues to be left out of the sqaud. The midfielder was positive upon his introduction to the game.

Unfortunately, his solo efforts were not enough, but his positive actions on the ball and defensively would have been praised if United had miraculously comeback.

Casemiro - 4

The Brazilian made little no impact in the game following his 80th minute substitution, with a lot of his passes being sideways or backwards.

 Joshua Zirkzee - 4

Another player who struggled to make an impact, but through no fault of his own Zirkzee had no service throughout his cameo and could not put the game in his own hands.
