New York Giants QB Russell Wilson Sends Defiant Message After Week 2 Loss

Russell Wilson and the New York Giants put on an offensive show in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, the defense was unable to replicate the success that the offense was having.

In what ended up being a wild shootout, the Giants came up just short against the Cowboys in overtime by a final score of 40-37.

Entering Week 2 action, Wilson’s job as the starter was a major question mark. Jaxson Dart is waiting in the wings for a chance to get on the field. Despite the rumors and calls from the fans to bench Wilson, he put together one of the best games of his NFL career.

When all was said and done, he completed 30 of his 41 pass attempts for 450 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He also ran for 23 yards on three attempts.

Despite his impressive performance, Wilson was unable to guide his team to a much-needed win. New York dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss.

Following the game, Wilson spoke out with a defiant message about his big-time performance.

“This game meant a lot to me. It was time to answer the call,” Wilson said. “So I think that for me was important to do that, not for anybody else, just for myself.”

Wilson may have done enough to keep his job another week, but the Giants still lost. If the team can’t start winning football games, the franchise will need to take a look at what it has with their rookie quarterback.

Dart is going to take over as the starter at some point this season barring a major surprise. Wilson needs to find a way to keep playing at a high level and start recording wins. After the 0-2 start, the frustration continues to grow within the fan base.

All of that being said, Wilson deserves a lot of praise for the game he put together. He did throw a crucial interception in overtime that ended up being the opportunity Dallas needed to win the game. It wasn’t a perfect performance despite how impressive he was.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Giants making a quarterback change. Wilson will likely start in Week 3, but his future is far from set in stone.
