The Cincinnati Bengals improved to 2-0 on Sunday thanks to Jake Browning’s game-winning touchdown in the final minute of regulation versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bengals fans were hoping Browning’s relief appearance of Joe Burrow would be short lived, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting Browning could be in the saddle for the foreseeable future.
Late Sunday evening, Schefter provided Cincinnati’s anxious fanbase with an update on Burrow. Unfortunately, he didn’t have good news. Schefter revealed the Bengals were sending images of Burrow’s turf toe injury to foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.
If Anderson deems surgery a necessity for Burrow, the former LSU Tiger would be sidelined for 3 months.

Based on that timeline, Burrow would not return to action until Week 15 (mid-December).
The Bengals host the Baltimore Ravens exactly 3 months from now in what was anticipated to be a potential AFC North championship game. Browning kept Cincinnati in playoff contention in 2023, when Burrow missed the final 7 games of the season.
When healthy, Burrow can stand toe-to-toe (pun not intended) against any quarterback in football. It’s safe to say he’ll do all he can to avoid being inactive for such a long stretch. But if he’s going to be on the mend long-term, the Bengals’ strong start may be all for naught by the time he’s back in the huddle.
