The Bengals could be without Joe Burrow for at least three months.
The fear is that the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. The injury would require surgery and could sideline Burrow for at least three months.
Rapoport called surgery Burrow’s “likely option," but he will seek a second opinon.
The injury occurred in the second quarter of the Bengals’ eventual 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars when Burrow was sacked.
He eventually made his way to the blue medical tent before going back to the locker room with assistance. Burrow had a visible limp as he walked with personnel on either side of him.
Prior to the injury, Burrow completed seven of his 13 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Burrow has dealt with injuries throughout his career including a torn ACL, a calf strain and wrist issues.
Jake Browning took over for Burrow and went 7-of-13 for 76 yards and a touchdown. The Bengals will likely look to him to be the starter in Burrow’s absence. In 2023, the quarterback went 4-3 as a starting quarterback.
