11 duels won, 4 tackles:£22m Man Utd star had promising display vs Man City alongside Mbeumo

Manchester United wing-back Patrick Dorgu had a decent outing during the 3-0 derby loss to Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Denmark international returned to the starting line-up from the left wing-back role following a muscle injury to Diogo Dalot.

He had a solid outing defensively, winning 11 ground and aerial duels. The 20-year-old also made four tackles and two interceptions.

Dorgu provided three key passes on the day, but could have still done better in the final third.

The Dane made four successful crosses in the derby, but there were multiple situations yesterday where his decision-making was questionable.

The former Lecce man had the opportunity to provide early crosses into the box, but his deliveries were either under or overcooked.

There were a few situations where he could have passed to Bruno Fernandes rather than trying to create a goalscoring chance by himself.

Dorgu is far from a finished article at the current phase of his career. The £22 million-rated star should only get better with age and experience.

His defensive presence and ability to induce fouls were quite evident against the Cityzens at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.

However, he still needs to improve his end product to become a mainstay in the left wing-back role.

If Dalot had started over him yesterday, he would have probably made a goal contribution.

In our view, Dorgu had a promising display yesterday. He was one of the better performers behind Bryan Mbeumo, who tried his best to score.

Mbeumo was unlucky with a sumptuous volley. The Cameroonian star was denied a splendid goal by a stellar save from Gianluigi Donnarumma.

United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday. The game appears to be a must-win, or there could be questions over manager Ruben Amorim’s future.

Amorim needs more continuity in the defensive scheme of things, but there could be a change or two after the 3-0 defeat at the Etihad yesterday.
