Manchester United will be nursing their wounds this week following a crushing 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby.

Erling Haaland netted twice after Phil Foden's opening goal to secure Manchester City all three points and local supremacy. The outcome will only heighten the pressure on Ruben Amorim, who has managed merely eight victories from 31 Premier League matches since taking charge at Old Trafford last November.

Following yet another lacklustre display, the post-mortem has already commenced. For his part, Amorim maintains he won't abandon his philosophy despite mounting criticism after another setback. The United boss will aim to rally his troops before they welcome Chelsea in their next encounter on Saturday evening.

Here's all the latest developments from Old Trafford in the wake of the Manchester derby.

Fernandes makes plea

United captain Bruno Fernandes has urged his team to show greater courage and take more chances as they seek to bounce back from their humiliating 3-0 Manchester derby thrashing, reports the Mirror.

City cruised to a comfortable victory without reaching their peak on another torrid afternoon for Fernandes and his team-mates. Speaking after the match, United's skipper said: "We need to score goals and not concede.

"We keep creating chances but were not able to score as much as we wanted. We have to be more in control. We concede three goals we could have avoided.

"When we go we have to take more risks and be more brave with the last line. When we pass to our centre-backs they go three against three and squeeze so much. The space is very narrow."

Keane's rage

Roy Keane didn't hold back in his criticism of Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes for their errors leading up to Phil Foden's opening goal in the Manchester derby.

Foden found himself unmarked in the penalty area, heading a precise shot past a helpless Altay Bayindir in the 18th minute. Keane was less than impressed with both Shaw and Fernandes' performances during that sequence of play.

Highlighting Shaw's poor positioning as Jeremy Doku approached the penalty area, United legend Keane said on Sky Sports: "It's like he [Shaw] has thrown the towel in.

"We know people can run off the back of Bruno, that's been going on for years. But my goodness, even before that, you've got two midfielders - they are too square. One pass takes them out. Far too easy. Shaw just throws the towel in there."

Keane added: "I think Shaw has been getting away with murder for years at United. Always injured, never quite fit, we make excuses...then he gets a few games under his belt and he's making decisions like he doesn't even want to tackle people."

It was also the first Manchester derby without a United player receiving a booking. The former midfielder ranted: "United walk off the pitch... I'm sick of repeating myself, you wake up you're going 'it's a derby game', physically [you should be] shattered. You shouldn't be able to get out of bed for a week after a tough game. And they're all walking off, not one yellow card!"

Amorim won't change

Ruben Amorim remains steadfast in his tactics despite increasing pressure following Sunday's defeat to City.

Amorim has always been open about his commitment to his favoured 3-4-3 formation and made it clear that the only way United will see a change in their style is if they decide to make a change in the dugout following the loss against City.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the full-time whistle he said: "I am not going to change my philosophy... I will play my way until I want to change."
