Mohamed Salah made Premier League history when he scored the match-winning goal against Burnley.
The Egyptian is no stranger to breaking Premier League records at Liverpool and has made a habit of doing so throughout his Anfield career.
However, Salah’s form has been concerning at the start of the season in comparison to his usual standards despite boasting two goals and one assist in his four outings.

Liverpool underwent major surgery to the title-winning side throughout the summer transfer window, and he is seemingly feeling the effects of the transitional period at Anfield.
Salah has appeared out of sorts recently, with both his on and off-pitch antics drawing unnecessary attention to what has been a perfect start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Nevertheless, Salah may now have reached the turning point which will see him rediscover his best form for the Reds after ending a six-year drought on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah ends six-year drought at Burnley
According to the official Fantasy Premier League X account, Salah had not registered a single goal contribution in his last six trips to Turf Moor.
Admittedly, Salah’s record against the Clarets leaves a lot to be desired; he has provided two goals and two assists in his 11 outings.
The 33-year-old produced Ballon d’Or-worthy form last season as he claimed the Premier League’s golden boot and playmaker of the season awards for the second time.
Salah has stepped up for the Reds countless times over the years, and they certainly needed their leading talisman to decide the match on Sunday.
Milos Kerkez was substituted during the first half, with Arne Slot eager to avoid going down to ten men after he carelessly went into referee Michael Oliver’s book for simulation – the Liverpool fans were not happy with Kerkez.
It does not matter how Liverpool win, as long as they claim the three points, but Slot must address the side’s tendency to move up the gears in the second half after a woeful first-half showing.

Indeed, the parameters by which Salah is judged are exceedingly high compared to any other player in the Premier League, barring Erling Haaland.
This is, of course, due to his history of impeccable consistency across his Anfield career, and he will once again be called upon to be the main creative outlet for the Reds throughout the season.
At one stage, it appeared that the Egyptian would be waving goodbye to the supporters in 2025, until he finally signed a new two-year contract in April. Although he is reaching the twilight years of his career, the expectation remains.
Once Alexander Isak is introduced into the side, the burden will undoubtedly feel less heavy on Salah’s shoulders, but unless he rediscovers his best form, there is a real possibility that his role as the leading goalscorer for Liverpool could fall into the hands of one of his teammates.
