Roy Keane and Micah Richards have delivered their assessments on Ruben Amorim's future at Manchester United. The Red Devils were comprehensively outplayed in Sunday's derby against a Manchester City side that had loss their previous two matches off the back of Pep Guardiola's most challenging campaign in 2024/25.
Phil Foden's opener before the break was followed up by a second-half double from Erling Haaland as United suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to their bitter neighbours. Amorim's squad have managed just a solitary victory this term - a 3-2 triumph over newly-promoted Burnley.
United have also endured an embarrassing League Cup elimination at the hands of League Two outfit Grimsby Town and are emerging from their poorest Premier League campaign on record.
However, ex-City defender Richards has expressed some understanding for Amorim's plight - while recognising that the former Sporting manager has presided over an underachieving team. "I don't like talking about managers losing jobs and I never will because I don't think it's fair," he told Sky Sports. "But, obviously, what he is doing right now is not working.
"Since his first Premier League game he's got less points than some of the worst teams in the Premier League. If you are going to be at Man United it has to be better than that."

Iconic former Red Devils captain Keane was subsequently questioned whether Amorim will receive a full season and another 'free hit' following his November arrival at Old Trafford. "It's more hope than belief at this moment in time because we are watching them, we see them week in, week out," he said. "Not convinced, I hope they can prove us wrong.
"My worry is if the players are not truly behind him in the way they are playing in this system because the results haven't been good enough. A big worry."
United are set to face Chelsea at home on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off UK time), followed by a trip to Brentford the following week.
