Luton Town – In A Quandary

Last week, the news broke that the Premier League side, Chelsea, faced 74 charges from the Football Association.

Immediately, it brought back memories of our own past when we were hit with a draconian points deduction that, I believe, condemned the club to relegation.

There are, it would seem, some similarities between the charges, with both ours, and theirs, being the result of misdemeanours by a previous regime.

Now, I’ve read that Chelsea are confident of avoiding a points reduction as it was they, themselves, that alerted the authorities to the problems when the American consortium, Clearlake, took over after Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club, following Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, noticing that some deals were not quite as they should be.

But, and this is where I have a quandary.

Should I be adamant that the West London club should suffer a points deduction in the manner we were?

Or

Should I be sympathetic that, once again, a club could suffer now, for mistakes made by a previous ownership?

It seems to me that it is the support that suffers, a support that had no influence over the decisions made on the financial front.

Is that really fair?

Also, just how long do we have to wait before any sort of punishment is announced for the 115 charges Manchester City faced?

Please feel free to have your say on the above subject matter in the comment facility beneath this article.
