Photo: Jason Wilcox's reaction during Manchester United's derby defeat showed he was absolutely fed up

Manchester United’s leadership group were in attendance to watch the derby defeat to City.

If there is one positive to emerge from Manchester United’s loss to Manchester City, it was that Ineos’ key men were there to witness it.

Billionaire investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance at The Etihad, along with chief executive Omar Berrada, and football director Jason Wilcox.

They saw Ruben Amorim’s side fall to a depressing 3-0 defeat, and did not look happy to be there.

Jason Wilcox misery sums up Manchester United’s day

The Ineos trio were captured on camera at The Etihad, and their facial expressions told the story of Manchester United’s miserable result.

Ratcliffe and Berrada did their best to try to keep their emotions in check, while Wilcox looked glum, frustrated, even angry.

Standing up with his arms crossed, Wilcox had one of those ‘if looks could kill’ faces as he watched Manchester United’s players perform.

Wilcox and Berrada previously worked for City, and returned for this game as men under a little pressure.

Berrada was the man who head-hunted Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag was fired last year.

While Wilcox has played a major role in leading the recruitment, only to see United’s players struggle in another big game.

Manchester United waiting on signings to come good

Manchester United spent substantially in the summer transfer window, and are waiting to see a meaningful return.

Bryan Mbeumo has had a solid start, scoring twice already, and he was United’s brightest player against City.

Benjamin Sesko was making his first league start and he is yet to make an impact, while Matheus Cunha missed the match through injury.

United’s new goalkeeper was left on the bench, with Ruben Amorim unwilling to throw Senne Lammens in for his debut at The Etihad.

Wilcox and co should be at Old Trafford for United’s next game at home to Chelsea. Hopefully there will be something to smile about.
