“I think he’s fine” – Liverpool player gives injury insight into teammate after Burnley blow

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has played down any injury concern for Alexis Mac Allister after the Reds’ 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.

The 26-year-old midfielder was at the receiving end of a tackle for Burnley’s Lesley Ugochukwu in the first half and was replaced after the break.

After the tie, Arne Slot insisted his decision to replace Mac Allister was partly due to the blow he suffered during the game.

ESPN spoke to Alisson and asked him for an update about the Argentina international’s fitness and TNT Sports have relayed his comments.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has played down any injury concern to the former Brighton & Hove Albion man.

“He’s a very strong man. Nothing’s wrong with him, he was just in a bit of pain. I think he’s fine,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Brazil international has talked about South American duo of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez leaving the English champions for Bayern Munich and Al-Hilal respectively in the summer window.

Liverpool were also active in the transfer market and invested heavily to reshape Slot’s squad, and the stopper told ESPN’s SportCenter how the new signings have helped the Merseyside club.

“All the players who left were important. Lucho, Darwin, they all made a difference for us with goals or their playing, fighting, defending. They had good energy, and we miss them,” Alisson explained.

“The ones who arrived are stars, they’re doing very well with their contributions, they have a lot of quality. It’s clear we want to improve because we need to; we have many competitions to play.”

Liverpool are currently the only Premier League team to win all four league games this season.
