Ally McCoist explains why Ange Postecoglou should be really excited despite Forest defeat to…

Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge did not pan out in the best circumstances, as Arsenal won 3-0 on Saturday.

The Australian did not have much time on the training ground, and the usual Ange style of play was not fully in action at the Emirates.

The 60-year-old said that he would implement his philosophy by Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, and Nottingham Forest fans are sure to be excited to watch it.

However, Ally McCoist is another who will be keeping a close eye on the Tricky Trees this season.

McCoist recently told Postecoglou his best player at Forest, and now the former Scotland international has admitted one thing about the club.

Ally McCoist looking forward to watching Nottingham Forest this season

Ally McCoist has said that he is excited about seeing how Nottingham Forest’s project under Ange Postecoglou goes.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, the 62-year-old gave his thoughts on the Garibaldi.

The Scotsman said, “One thing I would say is Forest you could argue maybe potentially overachieved last year, brilliant season, got European football, FA Cup semi-final.

“But I will tell you what they have done, they have strengthened, they’ve spent a right few quid. That is a good good squad of players they have now.

“They didn’t play like it [against Arsenal] and it was a disappointment but with the players they brought in there is plenty to work with at Forest. I am really looking forward to how it goes.”

Nottingham Forest have 12 new players in the club for this season, so McCoist is right that Ange Postecoglou has no shortage of options, and that will excite the new head coach.

The Australian has multiple choices at his disposal to determine the best possible side for Forest.

The Tricky Trees’ next game could also be coming at a perfect time.

Swansea cup tie is the perfect chance for Ange Postecoglou to instil style

Anything can happen in a cup game, but the fact Nottingham Forest are facing a Championship side will be an ideal scenario for Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian will have had three days to instil his philosophy, and doing so against a ‘weaker’ opposition could provide a platform for the Forest boss to build on.

Additionally, Ange will play two of the three promoted teams in his next two Premier League fixtures, and wins in both will no doubt be expected.

While it was not an ideal fixture to start his reign, he certainly has some favourable ties coming up that could earn him favour among the supporters.
