**KANSAS CITY —** Jalen Hurts jogged off the field a winner at Arrowhead Stadium. That’s ultimately what mattered to the Eagles’ quarterback in Sunday’s Super Bowl rematch.
But Hurts and Philly’s offense didn’t have their best stuff in a 20-17 win over Kansas City — and a Chiefs star let them know that as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
As Hurts was lining up to kneel out the narrow victory, FOX’s broadcast caught Chris Jones, the Chiefs’ All-Pro defensive tackle, talking trash from across the line of scrimmage.
“You didn’t even have 100 yards,” Jones shouted. It’s unclear if he was talking to Hurts, who threw for 101 yards, or Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 88 yards.
Either way, Hurts responded pointedly with a NSFW retort: “We won the (expletive) game. Shut yo (expletive) up.”
Jones, the three-time All-Pro and one of the best defensive tackles in the league, played well against the Eagles with two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit.
Hurts wasn’t prolific by any means, but he did score the decisive touchdown on a “tush push” with 7:48 to go in regulation.
Hurts and the Eagles moved to 2-0 while the Chiefs dropped to 0-2.
Philadelphia offensive tackle Lane Johnson, always known for his candor, smiled when asked in the postgame locker room about Jones’ end-of-game remarks.
“He said a lot of stuff out there,” Johnson said. “He’s probably one of the best (expletive) talkers in the league. Top notch.”
Johnson, who was lined up near Jones when the exchange went down, was asked if he heard Hurts’ response.
“Oh yeah,” Johnson said. “NSFW. Isn’t that what they say?”
It is indeed.
