West Ham have fallen short countless times this season already as supporters’ patience wears thin at the London Stadium.

The Hammers started the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham well on Saturday and managed to stop Spurs from creating any meaningful opportunities in the first half.

However, Thomas Soucek’s red card immediately put them on the back foot and put a stop to any hopes of a comeback win.

Fans continue to show their frustration with Graham Potter and David Sullivan, with Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker not surprised by their grievances.

West Ham are ‘a difficult club to manage’ – Alan Shearer

Not all the fault lies with Potter for the Hammers’ shortcomings this season.

West Ham supporters have called for Potter to be sacked after three defeats from four and their continuous failings across the pitch.

However, frustrations also lie with the board, with West Ham fans calling for Sullivan to step down after an unsuccessful summer transfer window during which gaps in the squad weren’t addressed.

Lineker and Shearer, speaking on The Rest Is Football on 15 September, feel like there’s something up within the London Stadium.

Lineker said: “There’s certainly been no improvement since David Moyes left way back, in fact, possibly I think they’ve gone backwards.”

“Not good, not good at all. It’s a mess. I’ve said to you before, it looks from the outside like it’s a difficult club to manage in what say you have or what comes in,” Shearer replied.

“Also, what would be worrying is that not for the first time this season, when they concede that first goal, it’s capitulation, isn’t it. That would be a worrying sign.”

Sullivan has caused carnage in East London since West Ham won the Europa Conference League.

Just five players remain from the history-making squad, and a huge error was made in sacking David Moyes.

This summer, Sullivan failed to address issues in attack, and West Ham are now left with one fully fit striker in Callum Wilson.

Equally, they missed out on targets in defence, and failures from the summer mean that Sullivan’s time as chairman is surely coming to an end.

The 76-year-old could step down once he admits his failure in recruiting Potter and sacks his manager.

With three difficult fixtures against Crystal Palace, Everton, and Arsenal coming up, that could be soon.
