“Time will tell” – Napoli facing major concern ahead of Manchester City clash

Manchester City start their Champions League campaign on Thursday against Napoli.

The Italian champions picked up a 3-1 win over Fiorentina at the weekend and while the performance was quite promising as Kevin De Bruyne, Rasmus Højlund and Sam Beukema scored a goal each, Antonio Conte’s side have some concerns going into the game at the Etihad.

Goalkeeper Alex Meret picked up an injury just before the game on Saturday, leaving new signing Vanja Milinković-Savić to make his debut for Napoli.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that ‘time will tell’ if the Italian will be fit in time for the clash against Manchester City.

Things are expected to become clearer between today and tomorrow, with the 28-year-old suffering from a flexor strain and is only going to be risked for the game if there are no concerns about his fitness.

If he doesn’t feature, Milinković-Savić will make his Champions League debut against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Corriere dello Sport report that Napoli return to training today ahead of the game against Manchester City and Meret’s fitness will be assessed during that time.

It is certain that defender Amir Rrahmani will be out on Thursday, having picked up a thigh injury during the international break with Kosovo.

In his absence, Beukema is expected to start alongside Alessandro Buongiorno.
