Jeremy Doku has revealed he had every faith in Manchester City thrashing United in the Manchester derby. And the flying winger celebrated the 3-0 triumph at the Etihad by heading home to get baptised.

Most players like to toast an important win with a beer or night on the town. But Doku is different - and stuck to water instead following his decision to make his relationship with Jesus Christ official.

Doku said: “If I can be honest, the day was for me already a victory. Why? Because I knew that after the game, I was going to baptise myself, I'm going to be baptised.

“Maybe that's why I felt like I was pushed. That's why I'm very happy with the performance as well.

"As a Christian, when you get baptised, your old nature, your old sinful nature dies, and you start living with God. You resurrect with God, with Jesus Christ.

“You can do that as a kid but normally it's meant for when you're older and you really realise what you're doing. So that's what I'm going to do it.

“I was already excited before the game because I knew that Sunday is a victory day." Doku, meanwhile, hailed a team-mate blessed by the footballing Gods - in the shape of Erling Haaland.

Haaland plundered two more goals to help sink United and take his tally for the season to 11 already for both club and country.

“You can always count on him. I know when I play a ball to him that he will always make sure that it's a goal or a great save, so I'm very happy for him."
