Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United scouting Belgian teenager

Arsenal travel to Spain to face Athletic Bilbao in the first match of their Champions League group phase campaign on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta’s side have started the new season strongly, winning three of their first four games in the Premier League.

On Saturday the Gunners cruised to a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at The Emirates, although influential midfielder Martin Odegaard was forced off with an injury.

Arteta will also be without Bukayo Saka for the trip to the Basque Country, with the England winger having picked up an injury prior to the international break.

Ahead of their Champions League opener, it has emerged that Arsenal are keeping tabs on a Belgian youngster.

As per CaughtOffside, Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League sides monitoring Ajax teenager Jorthy Mokio.

The report claims that the Gunners, Chelsea and Manchester United have all scouted the 17-year-old defensive midfielder.

The midfielder joined Ajax Under-21s last summer having progressed through the youth academy of Belgian side Gent, and he has since made 22 appearances for the Dutch giants at senior level.

Spanish sides Real Madrid and Barcelona are also both said to have sent scouts to watch the teenager, who can play as a central defender as well as in his more natural defensive midfield role.

Mokio is currently contracted to the Amsterdam giants until the end of the 2026/27 season, and it appears that the Eredivisie giants may face a battle to keep hold of the player.

While Ajax are adamant that they intend to keep hold of the impressive youngster, the report suggests that an offer in the region of £20-25 million could force the Dutch club to reconsider their stance.
