Nayef Aguerd (29) enjoyed a dream debut for Olympique de Marseille, netting in the club’s 4-0 win over FC Lorient on Friday night.
The Moroccan joined Marseille from West Ham United in a €23m deal on transfer deadline day. He was thrown straight into the starting XI against Lorient. Not only did he keep a clean sheet, but he also netted in the 93rd minute to complete the scoring for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
However, during the encounter, the defender also suffered a knock to the head. That knock has meant that he wasn’t in training on Monday morning, as confirmed by **[RMC Sport.](https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/ligue-des-champions/direct-real-madrid-om-j-1-suivez-en-live-toutes-les-informations-avant-le-match-de-ligue-des-champions_LN-202509150412.html)** Aguerd will also be absent from OM’s visit to the Bernabeu on Tuesday, as they get their UEFA Champions League campaign underway with a tricky tie against Real Madrid.
The head injury has seen the concussion protocol invoked, and so Aguerd will now have to spend a short period on the sidelines.
