Philadelphia Eagles fans are starting to have flashbacks to the 2023 season, with how the team has struggled mightily on offense. All the focus has been shifted to the quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
During Sunday's 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Hurts had a second straight game where he didn't throw for over 200 yards. In fact, he barely got over the 100-yard mark, finishing with 101. Hurts finished completing 15 of 22 passes with a QBR of 43.1 and a passer rating of 78.
Surprisingly enough, his rushing stats weren't that much better. He had nine rushes for 15 yards. He did have a second straight game with a rushing score, though, to help the team.
The regular season stats aren't that great, either. Hurts has completed 75% of his passes for 253 yards and has rushed for 73 yards and three touchdowns in two games.
What is going on with Hurts in 2025?
Everything from the coaching staff has been chalked up to Hurts taking what the defense is giving him. That's all fine since he hasn't turned the ball over yet, but the offense doesn't look great.
Hurts only had one completion in the entire game, which was more than an eight-yard completion to DeVonta Smith in the fourth quarter for 28 yards. Even that pass was the greatest as it was a floater that Smith jumped up to grab. There was pressure on Hurts' face on the play, so there is somewhat of an excuse there.
Overall, Hurts and the Eagles' offense are bland and boring. They aren't taking any risks. It's a lot of slants and quick passes out of the backfield.
If Hurts is taking what the defense is giving him, is there a bigger problem with the receivers not getting open? A.J. Brown and Smith are two of the best wide receivers in the NFL, so it seems unlikely that they are struggling to get open.
Not having tight end Dallas Goedert in the game with his left knee sprain seemed to have contributed to some of the problems offensively. Grant Calcaterra
and Kylen Granson combined for two receptions for 11 yards in the win.

There's a lot of criticism heading offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's way with how bland and boring the offense has looked through two games. Eventually, Hurts will not be getting the free passes, and many are going to start wondering what the deal is with the Super Bowl MVP. At least the Eagles are winning, which covers up the problems for the time being.
