The Spanish press have reacted to Antony’s return to Real Betis from Manchester United, as the Brazilian star appeared in La Liga for the first time this season.
Antony is back in Real Betis colours after what was a long, drawn-out summer of transfer speculation away from Old Trafford.
It was evidently clear there was no future for Antony at Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim purchasing attacking reinforcements in the Premier League 25/26 summer window.

Betis was always Antony’s dream destination after a successful loan spell last season, and he got his wish. So how did he perform in his first game back in green and white?
How did Antony play on his Real Betis return?
Antony made his long-awaited return to Betis in a 2-2 draw against Levante. He did not get on the scoresheet or provide an assist.
That said, he did play his part in Betis’ comeback. The winger played the entire 90 minutes and helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side come back from two goals down.
The 25-year-old was dangerous throughout, however, with the most dribbles completed of any player (3) and the most shots of anyone on the pitch (6).

However, Betis, and in fact Spanish media, know the former Manchester United man is capable of more.
How did the Spanish press react to Antony’s performance?
The media in Spain had mixed reviews for Antony.
Estadio Deportivo wrote: “He didn’t receive many balls, so he barely appeared, except from set pieces, before the break. He was inaccurate in any case and couldn’t find partners. He had a better understanding with Lo Celso, although he was erratic when shooting at goal.” He received a 5/10 rating from the publisher.

Elmira awarded a 7/10, stating: “Everyone was waiting for the Antony moment. In his first game back, he suffered from a lack of physical fitness, despite completing the full 90 minutes. He tried to get gold out of nowhere and he never stopped trying. He has an understanding with Bellerín and it will only be a matter of time before he starts bringing joy to Betis fans.”
Mundo Deportivo, however, were impressed: “Antony has had a very good game. Remember, this is his league debut after his long-awaited signing.”
Antony will likely go on to have a very successful time in La Liga. His style is very well suited to the Spanish game.
