The late, great Ricky Hatton once spent an incredible night out with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and Manchester City heroes following their dramatic first Premier League title triumph.
In 2012, City ended their 44-year wait for an English league title when Sergio Aguero scored the famous late winner to beat QPR and snatch the crown away from Manchester United to mark the moment that the Abu Dhabi takeover really took off.
While Roberto Mancini’s title winners had been built and signed from all across the globe, the long-suffering locals finally had their day in the sun, or night on the tiles as it proved to be.
Captain Vincent Kompany, who joined the Blues three years prior, revelled in the celebrations with ‘The Hitman’, the Oasis frontman and his City team-mates.
Posting the morning after their party in 2012, Kompany wrote on social media: “Struggling to remember what happened last night... Woke up with a medal around my neck. Been told the party was deeecent! Lol. Memo to myself: Next time you're Champion, drink less, dance more..."

Following the tragic news on Sunday of Hatton’s death, Kompany recalled that night on X as he posted a tribute to the former world champion boxer, with a picture of the night in question alongside Hatton and Gallagher.
Kompany wrote: “We’ll miss you Ricky. Our thoughts are with the family and friends. Rest in peace legend (pray and heartbroken emoji)”
The other member of the party trio also paid his respects to Hatton, who he had been close to years before City’s triumph. Liam and his brother Noel carried Hatton's World Championship belts into the ring ahead of his 2008 Las Vegas fight with Paulie Malignaggi.

Taking to X, Gallagher posted: “Absolutely devastated to hear the news about RICKY HATTON it was an absolute honour to know him and carry his belts RIP CHAMP LIVE FOREVER LG x”.
Hatton beat Malignaggi in the 11th round to retain the IBO and The Ring light-welterweight titles in what would prove to be the final win of his career.

After his victory, the Gallagher brothers again joined Hatton in the ring, when the famous pictures of the three celebrating his triumph were taken.
Hatton said at the time: "Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to be a boxing world champion, support Man City and listen to Oasis.

"But I became a four-time world champion in two weight classes, ended up boxing at the Etihad Stadium in front of 55,000 people, and became mates with Noel and Liam Gallagher over the years."
