**Some fans and pundits are calling for Ruben Amorim to be sacked but the Man United board have no intention of wielding the axe currently.**
They have backed their manager in the summer transfer market and there is no desire to make a change in the dugout.
With that being the case, it is up to Amorim to address the problems that have seen the Red Devils take just 4 points from 4 games. Read below as we list 5 things the manager must do to keep his job:
1) Address the issues in midfield
---------------------------------
Man City knew where United’s weakness was and they exploited it. They overloaded the middle of the park and picked off their opponents.
If Amorim is going to persist with his 3-4-3 system, he has to pick players in the middle who can actually cover ground.
The derby should be the last time that captain Bruno Fernandes starts in the double pivot. Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte are the only two who have the sort of athleticism to play there, but another midfielder is desperately needed in January.
2) Stop substituting centre-backs
---------------------------------
Amorim likes to swap around his back three in the second half of games for some reason and it cost United another goal on Sunday.
Mattijs de Ligt was moved out to the right to accommodate Harry Maguire after Leny Yoro made way. It directly led to City’s 3rd goal, with Maguire’s poor pass and lack of pace meaning he could not get back to prevent Erling Haaland from scoring.
Considering Yoro had played just once during the international break for France’s Under 21s (six days prior to the derby), there was no need to substitute him.
