Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer in agreement with Leeds United verdict

In the wake of Gabriel Gudmundsson's own goal which saw Leeds United denied a useful point on the road at Fulham, much of the talk has centred not on the new recruit's unfortunate header into his own net but a lack of impetus in the other goal. Frustration among supporters has not been aimed at the fact Leeds failed to keep a clean sheet, which they would have had it not been for the bizarre header from Gudmundsson, rather an inability to get on the scoresheet themselves.

The lack of attacking strike has dominated the conversation, but it didn't dominate the chat between the Rest is Football podcast guys. Alan Shearer joined Gary Lineker to dissect the weekend's Premier League action, with the unfortunate own goal by Leeds the main takeaway from the chat.

Reflecting on the stoppage time own goal at Craven Cottage, Lineker said: “Poor Gudmundsson. I felt for him, 94th minute, he’s headed into his own goal. Apparently he was in tears in the dressing room after the game.

"Just one of those flukeish things, bit of luck for Fulham.”

It was a sentiment shared by Shearer, who continued: “I mean, how’s your luck! Kevin had the shot, keeper saved it, they get the corner and then, oh. There’s not a lot he could do, to be honest. I actually felt for him, so unlucky.”
