Joe Burrow injury update: Adam Schefter shares major update on Bengals star

Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow left Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the second quarter with a turf toe injury.

Adam Schefter provided an update on Burrow Monday morning, and unfortunately the news isn’t good.

The NFL insider shared that Burrow needs toe surgery and will miss a minimum of three months.

“Joe Burrow needs toe surgery. He is out a minimum of three months. It is official. He’s going to have that toe surgery. And he’s going to be lost,” Schefter said on Get Up Monday morning. “The question will be whether he’ll be back this season. But there’s a real possibility that Joe Burrow has played his last down this season for the Bengals.

“He’s going to obviously want to try to come back early. But that is going to be challenging to do. ... He’s going to be lost for an indefinite period here.”

Joe Burrow left the game against the Jaguars about halfway through the second quarter when he was sacked by Arik Armstead.

He stayed down on the field for several moments before being helped to the sideline and eventually to the locker room.

Burrow will now be out until mid-December.

This isn’t the first time Joe Burrow has missed time during his NFL career. During his rookie season in 2020, Burrow suffered a torn ACL, which forced him to miss the last six games of the season.

In 2023, it was a wrist injury that kept him out for the final seven games of the year. Now Burrow is dealing with another serious injury that could sideline him for months.

“You hate to see any quarterbacks go down, but Joe Burrow has taken a beating throughout his entire career,” Schefter said. “There are a litany of injuries he’s had to fight through from the moment he was drafted in 2020.”
