Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 4 roundup–FPL winners and losers

Fantasy Premier League gameweek four is now behind us. With plenty of twists and turns taking place, who were the standout performers this week?

We saw wins for teams such as Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool – but who were the winners and losers in FPL?

Goalkeepers

There were plenty of clean sheet bonuses being thrown around in the Premier League this week – as such, there were a few goalkeepers we could’ve included here. However, the top performer between the sticks in gameweek four was comfortably Sunderland’s Robin Roefs.

He made six saves during the Black Cats’ 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace – among the other strong points-scorers were Bernd Leno, Guglielmo Vicario and Nick Pope.

The worst-performing goalkeepers this weekend were Matz Sels, Mads Hermansen and Altay Bayindir, all of whom let three goals in against their respective opponents.

Defenders

Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven was this week’s star defender, picking up an impressive 14 points as Spurs thrashed rivals West Ham United.

The Dutchman scored and kept a clean sheet to earn this tally. Elsewhere, Nordi Mukiele and Joachim Andersen also put in strong displays over the course of the weekend.

It was a weekend to forget for Milos Kerkez, though. The former Bournemouth man has had a tough start tto life at Liverpool and his performance against Burnley did little to ameliorate things.

He failed to contain the lively Jaidon Anthony and picked up a yellow card for an egregious dive – Arne Slot had seen enough and hooked him in the 37th minute.

Midfielders

The highest-scoring player of the week was a midfielder this time around – none other than Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi, who fully justified his inclusion in the XI over Declan Rice.

He scored two of the Gunners’ goals and ran the game from the heart of midfield – Nottingham Forest could do very little to prevent him from dictating the pace.

Antoine Semenyo is still proving to be a prudent option, given his 13 point tally this week – Moises Caicedo also scored an excellent goal to boost his round total up to 12 points.

On the other hand, it was a nightmare for those who’ve stuck loyally by Tomas Soucek – he was sent off in his game for West Ham, as was Burnley’s Lesley Ugochukwu.

Forwards

Erling Haaland was at his brilliant best against Manchester United in the derby. He netted a brace amongst some questionable Red Devils defending and could’ve scored even more.

It wasn’t a fruitful gameweek for FPL strikers, but players who took the risk to bring Haaland in will certainly feel vindicated. In total, the Norwegian international accumulated 13 points this week.

On the other end of the spectrum, Ollie Watkins failed to score or register an assist for the fourth gameweek in a row. If alarm bells haven’t started ringing for people who have him in their squad, they certainly should now.

Additionally, those who took a risk on Alexander Isak will be disappointed, as he was not included in Liverpool’s squad against Burnley – but we can expect to see him in action sooner, rather than later.
