Man United manager Ruben Amorim is under a lot of pressure after starting the season poorly.
The United boss oversaw his side lose the Manchester derby against rivals Man City on Sunday in a 3-0 result, which saw them put in a very uninspired performance. After the game, Amorim insisted that he wouldn’t change his system despite the results.
He is under considerable pressure as he has managed to average just one point per game in the 31 Premier League matches that he’s been in charge of. Many are losing faith in Amorim, and calls for United to sack him are growing.

If that is the case, then the Red Devils will need to consider a replacement, so we decided to look at Oddschecker to see who the bookmakers believe could replace Amorim at Old Trafford…
5. Xavi – 9/1
Former Barcelona manager Xavi is the fifth-favourite to take over from Amorim at United, as the Spanish manager has been out of a job since he left Barca in 2024.
He had a decent record with the La Liga giants, winning 91 in 143 matches, drawing 23 games, and losing 29. His Barca side scored 280 goals in the 143 games he managed, and also managed an impressive 2.07 points per game record. Xavi also won La Liga once and also the Copa Del Rey during his period at the Nou Camp.
4. Nuno Espirito Santo – 7/1
Former Tottenham, Wolves and Nottingham Forest manager Nuno is now available too, after he was sacked by Forest due to a falling out with owner Evangelos Maranakis. He was replaced by Ange Postecoglou.
Nuno managed to take Forest from relegation candidates to a Europa League side last year, and so his credentials in the Premier League speaks for itself. He likes to play a counter-attacking style of football which could suit United’s pacey attackers.
3. Michael Carrick – 6/1
The former United midfielder has experience taking charge of the Red Devils, as he did during his time as assistant manager before he moved to Middlesbrough.
He’s currently available too after he left Boro at the end of last season. His record at the Championship club was decent, winning 63 in 136 matches at the club. In his three games as caretaker manager at United, Carrick won two and drew one, remaining unbeaten.
2. Gareth Southgate – 5/1
Southgate was linked with the Man United job after Erik Ten Hag was sacked, but despite the odds, it feels an unlikely appointment based on whether Southgate would want the job.
He has taken a step away from management after receiving a lot of social media criticism during his time as England boss, but his record speaks for itself. He took the Three Lions to two European championship finals, and a World Cup semi-final.
1. Oliver Glasner – 4/1
The only manager on this list who is currently in a job, Glasner is doing an excellent job at Crystal Palace, taking them to an FA Cup trophy last year, and qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
His record at Selhurst Park speaks for itself, the question is, would he leave Palace with European football for a Manchester United side which is clearly in a world of troubles.
