The Golden State Warriors have not made any significant moves in this offseason.

The Golden State Warriors have been fairly quiet this offseason, barely making any moves that help improve their roster. The Warriors reportedly hosted a workout at the Chase Center for two young free agents, Dalano Banton and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

According to Danny Emerman of The San Francisco Standard, the Warriors welcomed Banton and Robinson-Earl for workouts ahead of training camp. It’s a standard procedure for NBA teams as they finalize the roster and see if there are more available spots in preparation for the upcoming season.

“Free agents potentially vying for training camp invites, including Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Dalano Banton, have stopped by Chase Center for workouts recently, per sources. That’s typical for this time of year, but usually there would be more clarity on the types of opportunities that might be available,” Emerman wrote on September 11.

Both players were second-round picks in the 2021 NBA Draft. Banton, 25, was drafted 46th overall by the Toronto Raptors. He also played for the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 8.3 points per game last season in Oregon. He’s a big point guard who can also play small forward.

Robinson-Earl, 24, was the No. 32 pick by the New York Knicks before getting traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on draft night. He signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2023 and played two seasons there before becoming a free agent this summer. He’s an undersized center and can slot in the power forward position.

Warriors Waiting on Jonathan Kuminga Before Filling Out Roster

The Golden State Warriors are the only team that hasn’t signed a free agent this offseason. The Warriors did exercise its team option for Gui Santos, while Jonathan Kuminga remains unsigned with less than a month before training camp.

Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area reported on September 9 that free agents such as Al Horford, DeAnthony Melton and Gary Payton II are “quietly asking for clarity” regarding their contracts. The Warriors can’t make a signing unless the Kuminga issue has been resolved.

One of the free agents linked to Golden State, Malcolm Brogdon, has moved on, with the former Sixth Man of the Year signing a non-guaranteed deal with the New York Knicks. Kuminga is still weighing his options, which include accepting the qualifying offer worth nearly $8 million.

Warriors Make New Offer to Jonathan Kuminga

According to Anthony Slater and Shams Charania of ESPN, the Golden State Warriors have made a new offer to Jonathan Kuminga. The Warriors are hoping to end the saga by offering the 22-year-old forward a three-year, $75.2 million contract. It reportedly has a team option for the final season.

It’s an improved offer by Golden State, which has a similar annual value to what the Chicago Bulls gave to Josh Giddey last week. Giddey signed a four-year, $100 million deal without a player or team option.

By putting a team option on Kuminga’s contract, he’ll likely remain a trade candidate for the Warriors. The player and his agent prefer a player option and an annual salary of $30 million. Golden State also offered a three-year, $54 million contract without any option, but it only has an annual value of $18 million.

There’s another option for the Warriors and Kuminga, similar to what the Brooklyn Nets proposed to Cam Thomas, as per Slater and Charania. It’s a one-year deal, with a salary higher than the qualifying offer of $8 million that will remove the inherent no-trade clause.
