Leeds United will go in search this weekend of a first win since their opening game of the season when they travel to bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers. Both teams were undone on Saturday by a solitary goal, with Wolves' hit by a perfectly placed header from Newcastle United's Nick Woltemade, while Leeds were similarly undone by a header but from their own player in Gabriel Gudmundsson.
It leaves Wolves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table without a point to their name and with only two goals scored so far this season. Leeds meanwhile are sat 16th alongside a host of teams on four points, with their opening match win against Everton feeling a long time ago now.
The Whites will have an eye on this weekend as a good opportunity to return to winnings ways. Likewise Wolves will fancy their chances against the newly-promoted team, but their chances of a win and of finding the back of the net once again have been dented by the latest injury news out of Molineux.
Having fought so hard to keep hold of Jorgen Strand Larsen in the summer transfer window, Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has been unable to call upon his star man due to a foot injury. It looks like the striker will be missing again when Leeds come to town.
Speaking about Strand Larsen, Pereira said: “It's day by day. It’s the Achilles tendon, we cannot push – we need to be patient.”
The manager said he had spent the build-up to the Newcastle defeat working with just eight players due to a combination of injury and the international call-ups. Wolves will be better stocked for the Leeds game, but the absence of Strand Larsen will still be a concern.
