Report: 'World-class' manager seen at West Ham as pressure on Graham Potter increases

West Ham United boss Graham Potter will be looking nervously over his shoulder after yet another poor result in the Premier League - and reports have suggested that Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna was a 'surprise visitor' to watch their 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening, sparking rumours of a move.

Potter has spent 22 Premier League games in the dugout at West Ham, winning just six of those, with just two wins coming at the London Stadium in that time - one on his debut vs Fulham in January and another over eventually-relegated Leicester City in February. That seven-month spell since winning a game at home has put him under pressure and McKenna's appearance will only accelerate his exit.

Report: Kieran McKenna 'Made Appearance' at West Ham vs Tottenham

The report by Football Insider states that McKenna was a 'surprise' visitor in West Ham's boardroom during their Saturday evening defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

The Ipswich gaffer had seen his Tractor Boys outfit beat strugglers Sheffield United in a 5-0 win on Friday evening, forcing Ruben Selles to the exit door and giving the Suffolk outfit their first win of the campaign in what has been a challenging season for themselves.

However, 'world-class' McKenna was invited to the London Stadium to take in West Ham's defeat to Champions League outfit Spurs, sparking speculation over his future, and the potential future of Potter, who saw West Ham battered by their London rivals to inflict further pressure on the former Chelsea boss.

McKenna earned rave reviews for his back-to-back promotions with Ipswich, having been promoted from League One in the 2022/23 campaign before earning another from the Championship in the 2023/24 season. Although they were relegated last season, he's still on the radar of various Premier League clubs.

His stock was at its highest upon promotion from the Championship, with Tottenham and Manchester United thought to have been interested. However, West Ham are preparing for a decision to make if Potter cannot turn their form around and McKenna could be his potential replacement.

The Hammers got off to the worst possible start with a 3-0 loss at newly-promoted Sunderland, before being dominated 5-1 at home to Chelsea, with a notable weaknesses on corners. A stunning win over Nottingham Forest looked to have changed their fortunes, but a dismal outing against Tottenham has set alarm bells ringing once again. McKenna's men only won four games last season, but having been promoted back-to-back, it was always going to be a tough order to remain in the top-flight.
