Packers’ Edgerrin Cooper is off to insane start to 2025 NFL season

Edgerrin Cooper received All-Pro votes as a rookie, and if his first two games of the 2025 campaign are any indication, the Packers’ linebacker may run away with those honors in his second season.

Few defensive players have benefited more than Cooper, from Micah Parsons’ arrival into the front-seven of coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense, as he has been able to flex his muscles as a disruptive playmaker, thanks in part to the attention offenses have had to pay Parsons.

Through two weeks, against the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders’ elite offensive lines, Cooper has logged 22 total tackles and half a sack.

Beyond packing the stat sheet, Cooper has made a significant impact on the Packers’ defense, and the outcome of the first two games.

According ot NextGen Stats, Cooper leads the NFL in “stops,” with 15 through two weeks, dwarfing Parsons’ output in the category, even though the All-Pro edge rusher ranks fourth in the league.

Per @NextGenStats, Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper leads the NFL in their version of a "stop," which is a tackle creating a negative change in EPA. He already has 15 in two games.

Cooper figures to play a starring role in Hafley’s defense well into the future, but the Packers’ present is as bright as it appears to be largely because of his ascending talent and propensity for making plays around the football.
