Broncos QB Bo Nix Had Intense Exchange With Sean Payton in Week 2 Loss

Emotions were running high, and things became intense on the Denver Broncos' sidelines during Sunday's difficult losing effort.

The Week 2 slate featured Sean Payton's Broncos visiting the Indianapolis Colts. Both teams were looking to extend their records to 2-0.

However, the Colts got the best of their AFC opponents, shutting them out in the fourth quarter and winning 29-28.

While Denver held a 28-3 lead going into the final quarter, the home team outscored them 6-0, including a last-second field goal to seize the win.

Late in the third quarter, cameras captured what appeared to be an intense chat involving Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and his head coach, Payton.

An X video went viral showing Nix walking to the sidelines and Payton asking him about something. Nix kept walking toward the bench as his coach was still trying to talk to him.

He called Nix back over for more of the conversation, and the quarterback seemed to get heated about whatever they were discussing.

According to the commentary, Nix and Payton have a lot of "intensity," and the coach was likely trying to ask why his quarterback changed a certain play on the field.

"It's tough because I felt like it slipped away from us. We made errors at the end, and it cost us," Nix said during his team's postgame press conference.

He took some blame for his key turnover and said the team "lost a bit of momentum."

"Other than that, we played well for three quarters," he told the media.

Nix finished the game going 22-of-30 with 206 yards and three touchdown passes. His turnover was an interception in the fourth quarter with the Broncos at the Colts' 28-yard line.

"It's a whole game that comes down to a few key moments. Unfortunately, we had some negative key moments tonight," Nix said, adding, "We gave ourselves every chance to win the game, and at the end we shot ourselves in the foot."

Denver also missed a field goal attempt with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, which would've extended their lead.

The Broncos QB said his team is "growing and developing" and still has a long season ahead.

During his postgame talk with the media, head coach Sean Payton said it would be "painful to watch that film" regarding his team's latest game. He accepted blame for the loss on behalf of himself and his staff.

It might not get any easier for the Broncos (1-1), who visit their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, in Week 3.
