Welsh international Rhiannon Roberts signed in the summer and is impressing – she was named captain and netted in the win at Sheffield United.

And retained favourites such as Emily Scarr and Katie Kitching have picked up where they left off and have also found their names on the scoresheet in the opening two games.

The two sides last met in March in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2.

Sunderland were 2-0 victors at the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from Libbi McInnes and Amy Goddard.
