Ange Postecoglou could unleash new-look Nottingham Forest XI, 11 changes from Arsenal defeat

Ange Postecoglou will be going in search of his maiden victory as head coach of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

The Reds face Swansea in the Carabao Cup, and Postecoglou will be hoping to get off the mark as the new Forest head coach.

After losing to Arsenal, Postecoglou suggested that changes could be made to his Forest team for the trip to Swansea.

With the Swans struggling in the Championship, Forest really have to get the Postecoglou era up and running, and we’ve looked at how the team might look.

In goal, a change could be made with Matz Sels sitting out of the visit to Wales completely.

John Victor signed in the summer, and he could start, with Scotland number one stopper Angus Gunn taking his place on the bench.

Defensively, Nicolo Savona should get more minutes at right-back after replacing Murillo just 37 minutes into the defeat to Arsenal.

At left-back, Oleksandr Zinchenko should get a debut, with Jair Cunha and Willy Boly starting as the central defenders.

The midfield could change somewhat for this one, too.

Captain Ryan Yates should get the nod to partner Douglas Luiz, who is almost certain to get minutes against the Championship outfit.

In the middle with them could be James McAtee playing in a more deep-lying role to make his first start for the Reds since signing for Manchester City.

Out wide, Omari Hutchinson could play on the left, with Dilane Bakwa hoping to build on a positive first performance for Forest at the weekend.

Spearheading the attack will almost certainly be Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Chris Wood another player likely to be given the night off.

Nottingham Forest head-to-head vs Swansea City

The most recent visit between the Reds and the Swans came back in April 2022 when a Sam Surridge hat-trick inspired Forest to a 5-1 victory.

Forest have won 28 of the games against Swansea, with Wednesday’s hosts winning 26. A draw has taken place on 16 occasions between the two teams.

The two teams have gone in opposite directions in recent years, and with Forest set to shuffle the pack, there really shouldn’t be any problems for the Reds in Wales when it comes to progressing to the next round.
