Joe Burrow suffers another significant injury
In Cincinnati's Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Burrow went down with a toe injury after getting sacked by Arik Armstead in the second quarter. He was initially listed as questionable to return, but that was later downgraded to OUT. After the game, the report was that Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury. Burrow then underwent further evaluation from a foot specialist before receiving the news that the injury requires surgery.
Unfortunately, Burrow has dealt with many injuries throughout his six-year NFL career. In his rookie season in 2020, he tore his ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus in Week 11, and missed the rest of the season. In 2021, he dislocated his pinky and in 2022, he suffered an MCL sprain. In Week 11 of the 2023 season, Burrow tore a ligament in his right wrist and would miss the rest of the season. Now just two weeks into the 2025 season, he has suffered yet another significant injury and will miss a lot of time.
Burrow put together his best season as a pro in 2024, completing 70.6 percent of his passes for a league-leading 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns with just nine interceptions. The LSU National Champion has been resilient in his career, battling back after each significant injury. For his efforts, he was named AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 and 2024. Jake Browning figures to lead the Bengals as QB1 with Burrow sidelined.
