Leeds United found out once again how difficult the Premier League can be. The Whites lost to Fulham away from home, making it their second loss on the road in the league.
For some reason, Daniel Farke’s side find it difficult to replicate their home form. At Elland Road, Leeds have picked up for points from Everton and Newcastle. But away from home, they have zero points.

Just like in the Arsenal game, the Whites experienced first hand why you need to take your chances. Leeds had control of the game for the first hour, then the club decided for a more conservative approach in the second half. They ended up inviting pressure, and in the dying minutes of the game, Fulham took the lead courtesy of an own goal.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker agree on Leeds United incident
The goal itself was a remarkable feat; the corner was whipped into the box, and Gabriel Gudmundsson somehow directed it into his own net under no pressure. Marco Silva’s side could consider themselves ‘lucky’ to walk away with three points.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker discussed the own goal on their podcast, and agreed that it was an unfortunate piece of luck that went the home side’s way.
Lineker said: “Poor Gudmundsson, felt for him, 94th minute, he’s headed into his own goal. Apparently, he was in tears in the dressing room after the game. Just one of those fluke-ish things, bit of luck for Fulham.”
Shearer also chimed in: “I mean, how’s your luck. Kevin had the shot, keeper saved it, they get the corner and then, oh. There’s not a lot he could do, to be honest. I actually felt for him, so unlucky.”
Gabriel Gudmundsson is not to blame
Ultimately, the blame should lie on Daniel Farke with how he managed the second half of the game. Leeds sat back too much, and did not react to the Fulham onslaught. Credit to Marco Silva for introducing Kevin, who turned the game on its head.
The Whites did not have anybody on their bench who could come on and produce a significant impact like that. Back to the drawing board for Farke as Leeds take on Wolves next weekend.
