Ruben Amorim could find his way out of Manchester United in the coming months, according to reports - with the Portuguese boss being linked with a move back to his home nation, in a deal that would end his Old Trafford nightmare. And given United's poor form, it's a deal that INEOS must consider completing to allow them to start afresh.
The report by Fichajes states that Amorim would 'already have a team' if he was to leave United, in the form of Benfica. The Lisbon-based club, who are the rivals of Amorim's former side Sporting, have seemingly left open the possibility of seeing Amorim come into their dugout to replace Bruno Lage, despite Benfica remaining unbeaten in the Primeira Liga so far.
Report: Benfica 'Interested' in Ruben Amorim Appointment

Amorim is going through a 'delicate' moment at United, and his continuity at Old Trafford is beginning to raise doubts after some poor performances. Their only win in all competitions this season came via a 97th-minute penalty vs Burnley, being famously dumped out of the League Cup by Grimsby Town on penalties at the end of August, whilst they have been beaten in two of their four Premier League matches already.
As a result, United may be looking to replace him, but before he departs, Benfica have 'emerged' as a natural destination for Amorim, having excelled in his home nation throughout the years.
Whilst Amorim has spent his best managerial years at Sporting, the former midfielder endured nine seasons at Benfica, racking up 154 appearances for the club before departing for Braga on loan and ultimately retiring aged 32 due to a knee injury. He has a strong affiliation, and it is thought that he will be 'destined' to lead the club in their next stages.
United have invested heavily to bring their team up to speed for the Portuguese tactician, but it hasn't quite gone their way, and that has opened the door to a potential exit - with Benfica ready to snap him up, as he fits into their long-term philosophy due to the connection with the club.
Man Utd Must Push for Benfica to Prise Amorim From Them

In short, Amorim seems as though he will be approached by Benfica at some point in his career - and if the Portuguese giants are that keen on bringing him in, United simply mustn't stand in his way.
There have been murmurs over a potential exit for Amorim, but it's clear for all to see that it's simply not working at Old Trafford. Four points from four in the Premier League is just about survival form, and with no European or League Cup football to contend with, their only realistic hopes of silverware lies in the FA Cup, which doesn't even start until January.
Should Benfica make a bid for his services, United need to accept it, let Amorim go and start afresh in a new managerial reign. He simply hasn't been good enough for United after the tenure of Erik ten Hag came to an end, and it does feel like it is time to go - especially after being so easily carved open in so many of their games under his guidance.
United, when excluding the six teams who have been relegated and promoted in Amorim's time at the club, would be bottom of the Premier League table and for a club of their stature, that simply is not good enough.
