The Giants have re-signed wide receiver Dalen Cambre to their practice squad on Monday
The New York Giants turned in perhaps the most unexpected performance in the NFL in Week 2, as they gave the Dallas Cowboys everything they could handle in what ended up being a thrilling shootout between NFC East rivals. While the Giants ended up suffering a crushing 40-37 loss in overtime, there were several encouraging developments to take away from this game.
Of course, New York didn’t win, so the front office is continuing to work on finding ways to maximize the talent available on its roster. On Monday, that led to them re-signing wide receiver Dalen Cambre to their practice squad after he was one of their standout performers during training camp over the summer.
Giants Re-Sign Wide Receiver Dalen Cambre
Cambre spent five seasons playing for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in college, but during that time, he caught just 10 passes for 123 yards on offense. Instead, Cambre worked primarily as a special teams ace, and while he didn’t get selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, he signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent.
While Cambre continued to work on special teams during the summer, he also got work in as a wide receiver, and he made quite an impression on the coaching staff. It wasn’t much of a surprise to see that Cambre didn’t make New York’s active roster, but it was surprising to see that he didn’t immediately latch on with their practice squad.
That appears to have changed on Monday in the wake of the team’s disappointing loss to the Cowboys. With the Giants sporting a 0-2 record, they have decided to bring Cambre back to town as a member of their practice squad, according to several reports, giving him an opportunity to make his NFL debut in the near future.
“The Giants are re-signing camp standout WR Dalen Cambre to the practice squad, per source,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X.

As was the case during his time in college, Cambre’s best shot of contributing for New York is going to be on special teams. As the first two weeks of the new season have shown, special teams have never been more important in the NFL, so having an ace like Cambre who can help out on several different units could be something the team is looking to take advantage of in future games.
Whether or not Cambre will get elevated to the active roster remains to be seen, as his primary focus will be on developing behind the scenes so that if he does get called upon, he can chip in right away for the Giants. Heading into Week 3, the team has another tough matchup on its hands against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
