Big boost: Wolves boss is "worried" for Leeds United clash this week

Leeds United have to react to their 1-0 defeat away at Fulham, attention now swiftly turning to another trip, this time to Wolves.

The strengths and weaknesses of Leeds’ start to life back in the Premier League are there for all to see currently.

Defending does not look to be an issue for United, but scoring goals appears a real worry. Thankfully, their next opponents are in even more of a struggle at present.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira “worried” for his side ahead of Leeds United

Four points from four games isn’t a disaster for United. However, pressure has crept up on Daniel Farke to ensure he can mount a survival bid through scoring enough goals to finish 17th.

Up next is a game many will see as a very early ‘six-pointer’ for Leeds against Vitor Pereira’s Wolves, who are without a point from their opening four games.

Wolves’ latest game brought a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Newcastle United, leaving them rock bottom from four games. Pereira has faith in his side to bounce back soon, but is “worried” at his current situation.

“Last season we had defeats in four games in a row, but we never lost our focus,” he told Wolves’ site. “We never lost our way to improve. This is the way to improve, mentally and tactically speaking. It means that we know what we must do with the team, and the team knows what we can do to improve, and this is time to be patient and to support the team.

“I just want to finish a game proud of my players, proud of my team, and today I’m proud of my team. Today, I’m happy. Of course, worried because we didn’t get any points, but this is the way, I want to see my team competing like this.”

Vitor Pereira is rightly concerned as Leeds United travel to Wolves this week

Wolves had plenty of chances at Newcastle and could have come away with at least a point. You could say the same about us at Fulham.

The issue is that goals and wins must come sooner rather than later otherwise you’re fighting an uphill battle.

Up next, Pereira will know this game against Leeds is must-win. That tension might feed into our plans to frustrate and sting them on the counter.
