The Los Angeles Lakers always appear to be on the hunt to upgrade their roster. The Lakers achieved this feat this past summer without making a massive trade.

The expectation for the Lakers heading into the offseason was that they'd make a trade. Instead, they held on to all their assets and gained three players via free agency while only losing one of their key rotation players.
Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Lakers aren't exactly the favorites to win the title, but that could all change with a trade or two this season.
There is a flurry of moves they could make, but one they have been urged to do is trade for Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason.
Ryan Stano of Lakers on SI named Eason as one of the three players LA should target this season.

"Tari Eason is another player who excels on the defensive end of the court. He smothers opposing players on the perimeter and makes life miserable for them as they try to dribble the ball," Stano wrote.
"Eason's playing time in Houston has slowly increased over the last couple of years, but the arrival of Kevin Durant might complicate that a bit. LA would be able to offer him a spot in the starting lineup."
Eason may not be the big name that will move the needle entirely, but he is exactly the caliber of player the Lakers need.
At 6-foot-8, Eason is capable of guarding the opponent's wing player and thrives off his athleticism, long wingspan and aggressive instincts, particularly on the defensive end with steals and blocks.
The odds of the Rockets trading a player to a conference rival are low; however, they may have no use for him down the road, as they have added Kevin Durant to the lineup.
Eason would be a phenomenal addition to the Lakers. Every team in the league is searching for a player like Eason, and he could take their defense to new heights if a trade is possible.
He could take a load off players like Rui Hachimura (if he's not included in the trade), LeBron James, Jake LaRavia and Luka Doncic on the defensive end.
Everyone will have their eyes on LA this season as they are expected to make another trade that could turn their fortunes around.
