102 touches, MOTM, 100% aerial duels... Player Arsenal sold this summer shines with near-perfect debut at new club

Mikel Arteta may live to regret a certain transfer decision as a former player shines at their new club.

The Gunners returned to winning ways after the international break as Martin Zubimendi’s incredible brace on either side of another Viktor Gyokeres goal secured a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal lined up with a completely revamped front line at the Emirates with Bukayo Saka still missing through injury – all of the front three arrived in North London this summer.

Criticism has emerged regarding Arteta’s transfer activity; the club spent approximately £253 million this summer while recouping a measly £8.9m in player sales.

However, there is one player who will be officially sold by Arsenal in 2026 who is turning heads away from North London.

Jakub Kiwior dominates on his Porto debut after Arsenal move

Jakub Kiwior joined Porto on a season-long loan deal on deadline day with an obligation to turn permanent at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates despite proving to be a solid rotation option last term, having made 17 Premier League appearances.

And while Kiwior may have fallen further down the pecking order following Pierro Hincapie’s arrival at the Emirates, he has certainly proven he has what it takes to be a leader in the backline for a top European side.

His Liga Portugal debut could not have gone much better for the Polish international as he completed the most passes on the pitch at the Estadio do Dragao and almost single-handedly thwarted the opposition attack.

Declan Rice dubbed Kiwior a “monster” following the confirmation of the defender’s switch to Portugal, and he has certainly lived up to that name on his first outing for Francesco Farioli.

Kiwior seamlessly filled the void left by Gabriel Magalhaes when he suffered a hamstring injury in April and was ruled out of the remainder of the campaign, and the Arsenal faithful will undoubtedly be pleased to see their former player thriving.

Cristhian Mosquera can be the new Jakub Kiwior for Arsenal

Cristhian Mosquera was called upon to make his Arsenal debut earlier than expected when William Saliba was forced off the pitch with an injury during the 1-0 loss against Liverpool.

And although the result was a significant blow for the Gunners, Mosquera looked a natural in the backline and enjoyed an impressive Premier League debut by all accounts.

The 21-year-old signed from Valencia this summer after playing a leading role for the La Liga outfit in his last two seasons in Spain, and he will provide stiff competition to Gabriel and Saliba.

He lined up alongside Gabriel for the win against Nottingham Forest and is certainly sending a clear message to Arteta that he will not willingly give up his starting berth once Saliba returns to the side.
