Tottenham Hotspur are back in action this week as they look to keep their momentum going
Tottenham Hotspur won 3-0 away at West Ham this weekend in the Premier League. They bounced back from their loss to AFC Bournemouth before the international break in style at the London Stadium. Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven got their goals against the Hammers.
Thomas Frank was appointed as their head coach over the summer after catching the eye at Brentford. His team are back in action on Tuesday with a home clash against Villarreal in the Champions League before a league match against Brighton and Hove Albion. In the meantime, here is a look at the latest injury news and return dates...
Tottenham Hotspur defensive and midfield woes
Radu Dragusin: Spurs’ defender suffered an ACL injury earlier this year. He has made good progress though on his road to recovery and is poised to return to training. The centre-back isn’t in the squad for the Champions League though. Frank has recently shared this update on his condition: “Dragusin is on the way back, and he's been running for a while. I think he should join the team in a week's time, 10 days' time. But of course, it is an ACL. I'm always a little bit more, not worried, but just aware that it takes time. It's not enough to have a six-week pre-season. You need to take a little bit more time, but it's positive and some surprise and come back quicker.” Expected return date: 15th October
Kota Takai: He arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer. However, he hasn’t been seen yet and it has been a frustrating spell for him to date. It remains to be seen exactly when he will be available. Frank said in late July: “Kota got a plantar fascia injury, unfortunately, we don’t know the scale of it - weeks.” Expected return date: Unknown
Yves Bissouma: The midfielder remains out of action and was actually linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. However, he stayed put beyond the deadline. His boss has said: “He's out for the next game. I don't have a specific timeline for him, but I don't think it will be that long.” Expected return date: 20th September
Tottenham Hotspur attacking issues
James Maddison: Spurs’ attacking midfielder ruptured his ACL during pre-season and is a long-term absentee. His exact return date is yet to be known. A club statement read at the time: “His surgery will take place in the coming days and, following that, James will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team. Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur wishes James a full and speedy recovery. We will be supporting him every step of the way.” Expected return date: 1st June 2026
Dejan Kulusevski: The winger is in the treatment room with a knee injury. He said last week: “The status is good. The rehab is going well. I will be on a football pitch in the very, very near future. If everything goes, as it should, as it has so far, I'm very confident that I will be on the pitch in two to three months.” Expected return date: 22nd November
Dominic Solanke: Spurs left the striker out of their game against West Ham. He has an ankle injury and will need to be assessed ahead of the Villarreal game. Frank said ahead of the match against the Hammers: “Dom will not be available still, I don't expect it to be too long but he will not be available for this game." Expected return date: 24th September
