As Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and global pop megastar Taylor Swift continue to feed the public with new tidbits about their ultra-high profile relationship, there’s another crossover coupling between the NFL and the pop music world that is flying much father under the radar.

This one involves Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, 27, and 26-year-old pop star Madison Beer who certainly appeared to be dating when they were spotted hand-in-hand at an upscale West Hollywood restaurant on September 6, after Herbert was seen casually conversing with the “Make You Mine” singer on the set of a music video shoot in Los Angeles.

The date at celebrity hangout Delilah in West Hollywood came just one day, and one 11-hour flight for Herbert, after the Chargers polished off the Chiefs 27-21 in the NFL’s second annual “Brazil Game” in São Paulo. Herbert threw for three touchdowns in that game without any interceptions, getting his season off to a promising start to say the least.

Beer May or May Not Attend MNF Matchup

On Monday, Herbert and the Chargers face the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, giving the team a chance to open their season 2-0 for only the second time in Herbert’s seven-year career — and second season in a row.

Amid speculation that Beer will be in attendance for the Monday Night Football game in Vegas, fans are now convinced that a big event Beer has planned for the following week is designed to help support Herbert in the Chargers’ Week 3 home opener against the Denver Broncos.

But will Beer make the trip to Las Vegas to support Herbert on Monday night? There were no reports that Beer made the trip to Brazil for Herbert’s game against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, but the hour-and-20-minute flight time from Beer’s base in Los Angeles to Vegas is a lot more convenient than the 11 hours it takes to jet to Brazil.

Big Event Planned Before Chargers Home Opener

So what does Beer have planned for the Chargers’ first game of the season at SoFo Stadium, on September 21?

In an unusual promotional gimmick, Beer last Friday created a telephone hotline for her fans to dial, and when the call connected they heard the songstress announce that her new single, an as-yet unrevealed track from her upcoming third studio album, will drop on September 19, the final weekday before the Chargers’ homeowner against Denver.

Fans responded to the announcement with declarations that Beer’s support and the timing of her single is designed to raise Herbert’s on-field performance to new levels, with one posting that the single release will put Herbert into “MVP mode.”

Beer Will Propel Herbert to ‘Legendary Stats,’ Fans Say

“Legendary stats from Herbert loading,” wrote another.

Herbert even added to the online rumblings himself, by adding a “like”, along with more than 331,000 other fans, to Beer’s latest Instagram post teasing the single, “Yes Baby.”

Of course, romance in the air may or may not have any effect on the results an NFL player produces on the gridiron.

While Herbert turned in a standout game after being sighted with Beer, Kelce has not been quite so fortunate. In two games since announcing his engagement to Swift, he has caught just six passes out of only 10 thrown his way.

On Sunday, Kelce dropped what should have been a touchdown pass, bouncing the ball into the hands of a Philadelphia Eagles defender who ran 41 yards with the interception.
