Tottenham-linked Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in has emerged as a target for Aston Villa
It has been over 15 days since the 2025 summer transfer market closed, and Tottenham Hotspur had quite a busy last few days of the market.
The fans were surprised with the addition of Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan from PSG on the transfer deadline day. A few days before Kolo Muani’s arrival, Spurs had sealed the move for exciting talent Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
Tottenham already wanted a new No.10 before James Maddison’s injury setback. Neither did they get Morgan Gibbs-White, nor Eberechi Eze in the summer, leading them to settle on Xavi Simons. The Lilywhites were also interested in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in during the summer transfer window. However, a move did not transpire for the UEFA Champions League winner.

Tottenham target Lee Kang-in wanted by Aston Villa
Now, according to a report from Fichajes, Aston Villa chief Monchi has identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-in as a ‘strategic reinforcement’ in Unai Emery’s project. The Spaniard is confident that the South Korean can flourish in Birmingham under Unai Emery.
Lee has been a quality player for PSG since joining from Mallorca in the summer of 2023. However, due to intense competition within the squad, he has not managed to take his game to the next level. PSG boss Luis Enrique has relegated him to a bench role, from where the creative midfielder has enjoyed very little game time. As a result, the 24-year-old is planning to leave Paris in January.
The report adds Luis Enrique still counts on Lee, who did start the weekend’s game vs Lens. However, the player wants regular starting opportunities and continuity, which seems difficult to arrive at Parc des Princes.

Pape Matar Sarr will leave for AFCON in mid-December
What should Spurs do?
Simply put, Tottenham must revive their interest in Lee in January. Maddison is set to miss the majority of the season, while Dejan Kulusevski will not return back to action until December. Even after he returns, how the Swede responds to the pace and physicality of the league is tough to determine. Plus, Frank will see Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma leave for the AFCON in early December.
Considering all these factors, the squad depth will be affected when games come thick and fast from mid-December. Thus, it will be vital to bring in a creative player in the winter window, and Lee fits the bill perfectly. The South Korean can operate in a variety of attacking roles, whilst providing speed, dynamism, dribbling and flair to Frank’s attack. He is also a fine set-piece taker, and his winning experience could be invaluable to Tottenham.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite exciting for the player, especially if Tottenham are prepared to provide him with regular game time to unlock his true potential. That said, the north Londoners must definitely rival Aston Villa for Lee’s signature.
