Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson (1) after an NFL International Series game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Bears are preparing to be without All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson for an indefinite period of time, sidelined by an apparent groin injury.
Johnson exited in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.
The injury is unrelated to the groin issue that kept Johnson out for the entirety of training camp.
“We’re still gathering some information on that,” Bears coach Ben Johnson said Monday. “It’s a new injury, it’s not related to what he had before. So we’re still trying to gather a little bit more information before we know for sure.”
Johnson has missed 15 games due to injury since entering the league in 2020. Last season marked the first time in his career that Johnson had appeared in every game of the season.
In a recent appearance on The Pivot podcast, he described the injury he suffered during the offseason before training camp.
“In my last week of training, in one of my last days, I popped my adductor off my pelvic bone,” Johnson said. “When I immediately did it, I felt it and was like, ‘nah, this ain’t right’ and I was telling my wife, ‘nah, I think this is kind of bad.'”
