Week Two of the NFL season featured plenty of action from former Maryland football players, with several carving out important roles for their teams while others continue to find their footing. Here's a full breakdown of how Terps alumni performed across the league, led by former Terps safety Nick Cross.
Defensive Standouts
Nick Cross (Colts): Cross had the most productive outing of any Terp in Week Two, leading the Colts in tackles with seven while also recording a pass deflection in their win over the Broncos. The safety is quickly establishing himself as a key piece of Indianapolis' secondary.
Deonte Banks (Giants): Banks had an up-and-down game, finishing with six tackles, including two tackles for loss, but struggling at times in coverage. The second-year corner is still finding consistency but has shown flashes of why he was a former first round pick.
Jordan Phillips (Dolphins): The rookie continues to impress in Miami, locking down a starting role and posting three tackles in the Dolphins' loss.
Dante Trader Jr. (Dolphins): Another Miami rookie, Trader played 33% of defensive snaps, finishing with two tackles as he gets worked into the rotation.
Darnell Savage (Jaguars): Savage played just 29% of defensive snaps, finishing with a single tackle in Jacksonville's secondary.
Sam Okuayinonu (49ers): Finished with just one tackle in a quiet performance.
Ruben Hyppolite II (Bears): Logged just eight defensive snaps but contributed more on special teams, finishing with one tackle.
Jakorian Bennett (Eagles): Saw limited action with just five snaps on defense as he adjusts to his new team.
Offensive Contributors
Chig Okonkwo (Titans): Okonkwo led Tennessee with four receptions which went for 35 yards, continuing to build chemistry with rookie quarterback Cam Ward. He remains a reliable safety valve for the Titans offense.
DJ Moore (Bears): Caught five passes for 46 yards but Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze seems to be quarterback Caleb Williams' favorite target thus far.
Stefon Diggs (Patriots): Pulled in four receptions for 32 yards as New England earned a divisional win over the Dolphins.
Ty Johnson (Bills): Got limited touches, finishing with two carries for six yards and adding a 20-yard kickoff return in Buffalo's blowout win over the Jets.
Corey Bullock (Ravens): Saw late-game action in Baltimore's 41-17 blowout win over the Browns, getting three snaps at guard as the Ravens emptied the bench.
Spencer Anderson (Steelers): Came off the bench at right guard, playing just four snaps.
Special Teams Spotlight
Chad Ryland (Cardinals): The second-year kicker was perfect, hitting both of his field goal attempts, including a 47-yarder, in Arizona's win over the Panthers.
Beau Brade (Giants): Played exclusively on special teams, recording one tackle.
Josh Woods (Falcons): A core special teamer, Woods made his presence felt with three tackles on coverage units.
Tai Felton (Vikings): Played exclusively on special teams, but with returner Myles Price coughing up a fumble, Felton could soon get a chance in the return game.
Inactives
Rakim Jarrett (Steelers): Recently signed to the practice squad but was inactive. With the Steelers' return game struggling, he could get elevated soon.
Tommy Akingbesote (Panthers): Signed to Carolina's practice squad but did not dress.
Durell Nchami (Colts): Inactive for Week Two.
Monday Night Matchup
The Terps will be represented under the primetime lights tonight, as Chargers cornerback Tarheeb Still and Raiders offensive tackle DJ Glaze are set to square off on Monday Night Football.
