Training camp is coming up quickly for the Denver Nuggets. If this teams wants to enter this next season with the best possible chance to win a championship, I believe they should [go all-in on trading Zeke Nnaji](https://nugglove.com/nuggets-made-stance-zeke-nnaji-abundantly-clear-offseason).
It's obvious that Denver already leaned hard into a full roster overhaul this summer. They filled positional needs and improved the supporting cast around Nikola Jokic better than in any other offseason during the last decade.
So why stop now? It's not going to be easy to make a trade this close to the start of the season, but that's no reason not to give it a shot. I think what the Nuggets should do is think back to the Dario Saric trade they made at the start of July, and try to replicate that strategy.
Granted, it's going to be hard to pull off the kind of heist Denver did when they got Jonas Valanciunas back from the Sacramento Kings. They made a one-for-one swap and got back a legit needle-mover at the backup center position in exchange for a guy who was barely playing. So I guess that means what I'm saying might be more wishful thinking than anything, but it's also proof that it can be done.
The Nuggets should try to trade Zeke Nnaji
------------------------------------------
I think Nuggets fans are generally fond of Zeke Nnaji, but it's also hard to dispute that he's [just not that important to this team](https://nugglove.com/haunting-nuggets-draft-pick-only-gotten-worse-age). And that's especially true now with all the major upgrades that have been made over the course of the last several months.
Nnaji has never been the most available player in his career, for one. The most games he's suited up for in a single season has been 58. When he does play, we're talking a career 12 minutes per game kind of guy, not the type of player you know is coming in and making enough of a difference to be on the hardwood for extended stretches.
And then there's the crux of the issue: roster fit. When the Nuggets' starters have gone to the bench in recent years, it's often been shot creation and rebounding that have been the biggest areas of struggle. Nnaji's just not solving either of those issues.
Denver should really shift their focus toward finding a guy, anyone really, who can play real rotation minutes. There's got to be a team out there, even at this stage in the game of the offseason, trying to move someone. Whoever that ends up being, make the deal and get this one last wrinkle in your bench ironed out before the start of training camp.
