West Ham United and Everton backed to make a January move for Tottenham star Yves Bissouma

Tottenham Hotspur had been looking to get the excess players out the door in the recently concluded summer transfer window. And while the chiefs at N17 were quite successful in getting a few players out the door, Yves Bissouma ended up on the books at Hotspur Way.

It did look like the Malian international would be completing a transfer away. But an unfortunate training ground injury halted any possible move, and it looks like he will be at N17 at least till the winter transfer window comes around.

The 29-year-old former Brighton star has been pushed down the pecking order. He has been effectively frozen out of Thomas Frank’s side, with the Lilywhites not including him in the Champions League squad. And then when you look at the roster, the likes of Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are all preferred over him.

West Ham and Everton to push for Bissouma when winter comes around

Yves Bissouma is currently not playing for Tottenham Hotspur.

And now it looks like the Premier League duo of West Ham United and Everton are set to revive interest in his signature when the January transfer hiatus comes around, according to the latest by Football Insider.

The aforementioned English duo did try to attain his signing in the summer window. But the Turkish duo of Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were pushing aggressively for his signatures. Though it does look like the Hammers as well as the Toffees could return to the table this winter.

And given how both the clubs are trying to bring in more physical box-to-box #8 and #6 hybrid, Bissouma could end up being an interesting option for Potter as well as Moyes.

Yves Bissouma was linked with a Tottenham Hotspur exit this summer

For the North Londoners, shifting Bissouma not about getting those £25m that Levy paid for him back. But it is more about trying to get some space on the wage book and in the dressing room.

And given that his contract expiring in the summer, this January is the last realistic opportunity that Tottenham can have to get something for his services.

If Tottenham do manage to sell Bissouma, they can go in and push to bring someone like Adam Wharton (given the Lilywhites recent links with a move for the England international) or even consider bringing in a more defensive-minded midfielder who can end up complementing Palhinha.
