Tampa Bay Buccaneers inactives for Week 2 Mnf game vs. Texans

Injuries have already piled up quickly on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, something that has so far proven to be merely annoying rather than impactful.

The Bucs were without key starters like Chris Godwin, Luke Goedeke, and Tristan Wirfs last Sunday but still managed to scratch out a win in Atlanta. It'll be more than luck on the Bucs' side on Monday night, as Tampa Bay is slowly starting to get healthier at exactly the right time.

Goedeke was a late addition to the injury report last week, but he returned to practice and will be good to go against Houston. He won't be the only Buccaneers player making his season debut, as rookie Benjamin Morrison is finally suiting up after missing all of training camp and the preseason with an injury.

He couldn't be returning at a better time. The Bucs secondary depth is already being tested and is coming off a week where Michael Penix Jr. threw for 298 yards and a touchdown in a game that was nearly lost by Tampa Bay.

Morrison was drafted to help replenish the talent pool at cornerback and was once considered a first-round talent. Injuries sunk his stock a bit -- and have already cut into his development with the Bucs -- but we'll finally get to see him in game action under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.

What better place to make your debut and start making a name for yourself than that?

Not everyone is going to be able to help the Bucs try to get to 2-0 for the third straight season under Baker Mayfield. Despite [some unexpected promise late in the week](https://thepewterplank.com/chris-godwin-long-awaited-buccaneers-return-just-got-huge-boost-practice-01k4wmw0787h), both Godwin and Wirfs remain out and are more likely to return either against the Jets next Sunday or in two weeks against the Eagles.

The good news is that last week the Bucs were down an unexpected player in Goedeke and still managed to get a win. With him back the job should be a little easier than it already was against Houston.

Of course, the last time Tampa Bay traveled to Houston things didn't go so well. C.J. Stroud essentially shored up his Rookie of the Year campaign with a five touchdown performance in a 39-37 shootout.

Here's to hoping we don't get a repeat of that on Monday night.
