As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers geared up for a Week 2 showdown with the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, fans were happy to see Luke Goedeke suited up for the first time this season. Unfortunately, Goedeke's return to the lineup didn't last long, as the starting right tackle aggravated his foot during the Bucs' second drive. He's been [ruled out for the remainder of the game.](https://x.com/BuccaneersComms/status/1967735263884611726)
Goedeke signed a four-year extension with the Bucs in the offseason and there were high hopes for him to help anchor this o-line in his fourth pro season. The second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has battled injuries throughout his career but started all 17 games in 2023 and double-digit games last year.
With Tristan Wirfs also injured and missing games, that leaves the Bucs without their preferred starting tackles, which is never a good situation to be in. Charlie Heck slid into Goedeke's spot after the Central Michigan product exited the game.
Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke exits Week 2 game with foot injury

Goedeke was injured on a play on the Bucs' second drive after blocking Danielle Hunter of the Texans. After the play was over, he motioned to the sideline and exited the game and was ruled out nearly immediately after.
The good news is that Baker Mayfield still baked in Week 1 and was only taken to the ground one time by the Falcons defense in that eventual Bucs win. Heading into the locker room at halftime against the Texans, he had also only been sacked once, so it looks like so far, the o-line is holding up without Goedeke (and Wirfs).
That being said, the Bucs will gladly welcome both him and Wirfs back when they're healthy enough to return to the lineup. That's only going to make an already explosive offense even more explosive and that's got to be a terrifying thought for the other teams remaining on Tampa's schedule this year.
