It was a scary scene for Buffalo Bills fans late in the first quarter against the Jets on Sunday. On a designed run to the right, Bills QB Josh Allen was tackled from behind by Jets S Andre Cisco. His face collided with the back of one of his offensive linemen’s legs, and he immediately jogged to the sideline and sought out the medical training staff.
Backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky checked into the game and immediately completed a 32-yard pass to WR Josh Palmer, before handing the ball off on the next play to RB Ty Johnson. That ended the first quarter. By the time the second quarter began, Allen was back in the lineup and ready to go, ultimately leading a field goal drive. He played the rest of the game with no issues.
On Monday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott was asked about Allen’s nose injury, which was tended to on the sideline by the medical staff. “Yeah his nose didn’t get any bigger, I don’t think. I think it’s always looked good to me, I think it still looks good, so I think we should be in a good spot,” McDermott said with a chuckle.
One reporter followed with a question on if Allen’s nose had been broken. “Yeah I don’t have any confirmation on that, no. It was just gushing blood, so…,” McDermott said with a tongue-in-cheek grimace.

After putting up 41 points on the Ravens in a scintillating Week 1 game that will be remembered as one for the ages, the Bills followed it up by dropping 30 on the Jets in Week 2.
Against New York, the Bills had 403 yards of total offense and 25 first downs. They were both methodical and explosive, churning out tough yards and stacking first downs when needed, but also opening it up and creating some chunk plays.
Allen himself had a quiet day, but the Bills dominated the Jets on the ground. Buffalo RB James Cook ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns, as the Bills leaned on the Jets to control the clock from start to finish.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is One of the Most Resilient Players in the NFL
Allen is currently playing his eighth season in the NFL. Since his rookie season, he’s missed a total of one game due to injury. Just one, and that was back in 2022.
Allen is known for his physical style of play, being an athletic, bruising runner who isn’t afraid to take (and deal) some punishment. The fact that he’s stayed so healthy in his career despite this is a testament to Allen’s resiliency and fortitude. Allen plays harder than everyone else on the field, and the Bills love this infectious energy. He’s the heart of the Buffalo Bills football team, and they play off him to great success.
